What’s The Detox Pile?
The Detox Pile is a new community for those trying to reduce the excess in their lives.
After I gave birth to my first daughter, I was surrounded by toys, clothes, and blankets galore. There was just so much stuff that our baby ”needed”! On top of that, we were living in a small one-bedroom apartment in San Francisco, so being lean was necessary. We started as most people do, by trying to clear out papers, old toys that our daughter had outgrown, etc.
When we moved to our new place while pregnant with our second, the stuff kept piling on. I was also becoming much more aware of how much single-use items we were using and I knew there had to be a better way. My local Buy Nothing group on Facebook was just starting to gain momentum, so we created piles of clothes and household items we no longer needed to give away. The piles in our bedroom were starting to go down; now I was hooked on detoxing.
The kitchen was my next stop: with two kids comes A LOT of snacks and a lot of bags. I soon began researching the best reusable containers and tried everything from lunchboxes to stainless steel bowls with lids to washable cloth bags.
Then I opened my fridge. There was so much plastic. How was I going to reduce single-use plastic? I started looking at other parts of my life - social media, friendships, how I spent my time. This was going to take a huge shift in how we live and go about our daily lives. It wasn’t just about finding a reusable snack bag. The Detox Pile is about reducing in every part of your life and holding onto what matters and what sustains.
I welcome you to join me on this journey as we talk all things detox!
